Editor's note: It's Election Day, and getting out the vote is more critical than ever. In case you or anyone you know needs a last-minute push, we asked Bernard Whitman, CEO of Whitman Insight Strategies and the author of 52 Reasons to Vote for Obama, to share some of those reasons with us. Here are 13:
Whether you're PRObama, NObama or still undecided, here are a few things to think about before heading to the polls.
Obama has consistently delivered for the American people, but our work isn't done yet. All the key indicators are moving in the right direction: job creation, consumer confidence, the stock market, housing prices, access to the American Dream, fuel standards and domestic energy production are all increasing. The economy is expanding. Meanwhile, unemployment, the annual deficit, credit card fees, taxes, health care costs and the number of troops abroad are decreasing. We are moving in the right direction, so why would you want to change horses now?
We’ve had 32 straight months of job growth during which we’ve added 5.4 million new private sector jobs. By contrast, we lost 4.4 million jobs during George W. Bush’s last year in office.
Obama delivered for the middle class, cutting taxes for 160 million middle-class Americans. Mitt Romney wants to cut taxes mostly for the 1 percent. Obama cut taxes where they are needed most, the middle class.
